“After a fantastic start to 2013 we are back with another storming line up. This time our home will be Sheffield’s famous Yellow Arch Studios. Here comes the line up:

Youngtsa & MC Toast (Rinse FM/FWD>>/Tempa ) – DJ Youngsta has been a leading figurehead in dubstep since it began. He was one of the first DJ’s to play the sounds that have shaped the groundbreaking scene at FWD, a place that defined British dubstep. It would also be hard for us to bring you Youngsta without bringing one of the best dubstep MC’s around, MC Toast will be riding all of Youngsta’s tracks, just as he does so expertly every Monday at 2300-0100 AM.

Sunship (Sheffield Debut) – Two UK Garage pioneers who have been bringing the best remixes and productions out for many years. Their remix of Sweet Female Attitude’s “Flowers” is a song that is supported by near enough every DJ in Britain. The fact that these two have never played in Sheffield is a crime, so make sure you come down and not miss this one!

Sounds Like

Walter Ego (Girls Music) – A huge year ahead for this producer/DJ, he has forthcoming releases on Coyote Records, Bad Taste Records and Tru Thoughts. Walter Ego first came to light in 2012 when he released “Calm Down” featuring Coco & K-Dot, this was shown massive supported by Toddla T who snapped him for his first release on Girls Music, a track entitled “Set Off” featuring Trim.

Sounds Like

Shorty & Autograff (Shortagraff / LSS) – Two DJ’s who have been playing solo and B2B sets for LSS and any other Sheffield event that loves to showcase local talent. The two of them together will bring a two hour set that will be full of the finest beats around.

Shinobi (Project All Out / Future Soundz) – The leading man at Sheffield record label Project All Out and Future Soundz will be hosting the main room for us.

Walter Ego – Wavey/Military Mind (Coyote003)

Walter Ego – Wavey/Military Mind (Coyote003)

I’ve got a lot of time for labels who are doing things the correct way, Coyote Records is definitely one of these, quickly building momentum with their 3rd release imminent.
From the label that brought you TS7′s “Grade A” & Mella Dee’s “CTRL” names who you should all be familiar with if your a regular reader. This time they have picked Sheffield producer Walter Ego! A man who has been quickly gaining a name for himself in recent times after featuring on Boiler Room TV & releasing “Set Off” featuring Trim on Girls Music ran by Toddla T, to name a few of his recent achievements!
Wavey was originally played back on Plasticians Rinse FM show last year, Walter Ego felt it needed a vinyl release and Coyote Records did just that. This heavy hitting grime track has plenty of energy and wont sound out of place amongst a variety of audiences. Personally I picture this track fitting perfectly in a dimmly lit warehouse with a Soundsystem weighty enough to carry that bass, certain to get at least the one reload from the crowds reaction. Hopefully going to hear this track when Walter Ego plays at Knives & Forks, as I haven’t heard it out yet!

Military Mind still being grime, is a lot skippier & up beat with a wicked coin sample right before the drop. Both the tracks are cleverly named (which can be rare sometimes) & I feel they fit the mood accordingly.
Unlike other Coyote releases, both tracks are originals with no remixes to accompany them but as they use different flows they should work well together as a release…especially on vinyl which is another added bonus! As these releases are on Vinyl, delays can happen but if all goes to plan this should be getting heard from late February onwards!

DJ Q Joins Ministry Of Sound Radio

DJ Q Joins Ministry Of Sound Radio

I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels the airwaves haven’t quite been the same since DJ Q left 1xtra back in August…

Well good news, DJ Q has managed to secure a monthly “Essential Garage Show” on Ministry Of Sound Radio!

Hub Entertainment

“UK Garage icon DJ Q is to begin hosting a monthly show on Ministry of Sound Radio.

Starting on 28 January 2013 at 9pm, the Huddersfield producer will present the station’s Essential Garage show, playing the best in new 2-step, 4×4 and bassline music. With his years of experience on the DJ and radio circuit, expect Q to demonstrate on the show exactly why he is both a well-respected tastemaker and popular garage artist in his own right.

The new radio role begins five months after Q ended a seven-year stint at BBC Radio 1Xtra, where he presented the three-hour weekly UKG M1X show, and so as one of the leading names in dance music, Ministry of Sound’s addition of DJ Q to their schedule is without question a perfect fit.

DJ Q speaks on the news:
“I’m excited about working with such a legendary name in dance music not just in the UK but Worldwide. It feels great to be back on the airwaves.

“If you’ve heard a DJ Q club set then you’ll know exactly what to expect. A mash-up of beats ranging from UK Garage, Grime, House and much, much more! Club music at itss best!”

The news continues a busy start to the year for Q, who will also release his single ‘Trust Again’ featuring Louise Williams this month through Local Action Records.

The Hub Entertainment manages DJ Q.”
