Iv been resisting posting for the sake of it as i’ve always tried to post quality not quantity. So obviously when this wicked official remix popped up from DJ Q it gave me the perfect reason to post! DJ Q Joins Ministry Of Sound Radio

DJ Q Joins Ministry Of Sound Radio

I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels the airwaves haven’t quite been the same since DJ Q left 1xtra back in August…

Well good news, DJ Q has managed to secure a monthly “Essential Garage Show” on Ministry Of Sound Radio!

Hub Entertainment

“UK Garage icon DJ Q is to begin hosting a monthly show on Ministry of Sound Radio.

Starting on 28 January 2013 at 9pm, the Huddersfield producer will present the station’s Essential Garage show, playing the best in new 2-step, 4×4 and bassline music. With his years of experience on the DJ and radio circuit, expect Q to demonstrate on the show exactly why he is both a well-respected tastemaker and popular garage artist in his own right.

The new radio role begins five months after Q ended a seven-year stint at BBC Radio 1Xtra, where he presented the three-hour weekly UKG M1X show, and so as one of the leading names in dance music, Ministry of Sound’s addition of DJ Q to their schedule is without question a perfect fit.

DJ Q speaks on the news:
“I’m excited about working with such a legendary name in dance music not just in the UK but Worldwide. It feels great to be back on the airwaves.

“If you’ve heard a DJ Q club set then you’ll know exactly what to expect. A mash-up of beats ranging from UK Garage, Grime, House and much, much more! Club music at itss best!”

The news continues a busy start to the year for Q, who will also release his single ‘Trust Again’ featuring Louise Williams this month through Local Action Records.

The Hub Entertainment manages DJ Q.”

DJ Q ft MC Bonez & Robbie Rue – Party Time

DJ Q ft MC Bonez & Robbie Rue – Party Time

This week see’s the release of DJ Q’s brand new single “Party Time” featuring MC Bonez & Robbie Rue who both featured on the track entitled “Badman.” DJ Q, the producer who brought us the famous “Fear” piano riff has created yet another wicked introduction to “Party Time” that I feel almost has a futurastic/Sci Fi feel to it which works well before the drop. As opposed to “Badman”, Party Time takes a much mellower aproach to Bassline, with low basses & a catchy chorus, which hopefully will appeal to a wider audience!
Visuals are often forgotten for Bassline singles but it is always nice when a producer believes in their work & invests in the music and it shows with how well they are now doing!

Below is the Radio Edit which DJ Q released for his #FreeFridays too sample the release, dont let this discourage you buying the whole release as the EP comes with a DJ friendly version, Instrumental aswell as wicked remixes from Classified & Richy Gem!

3. Party Time (Instrumental)
4. Party Time (Classified Remix)

DJ Q ft Louise Williams – Trust Again (LOC011) – Released End Of January

Local Action’s first single of 2013 comes from DJ Q. It’s Q’s second release on the label, following the vinyl-only, swiftly sold-out ‘Brandy & Coke’, and marks the first taste of his forthcoming debut album.

Q’s been a legend to those in the know for almost a decade: his 2008 single ‘U Wot’ was one of the biggest tracks to ever come out of the UK’s bassline house / Niche explosion, and his BBC Radio 1xtra show was a must-listen for dance music fans worldwide. His recent productions and remixes (on Local Action, Unknown to the Unknown, Butterz and more) showcase a producer at the top of his game, able to turn his hands to grime, garage, pop and beyond, and ‘Trust Again’, a collaboration with Brit School alumnus Louise Williams is vocal 2-step made to perfection.

‘Trust Again’ features the first vinyl remix in several years by Karl ‘Tuff Enuff’ Brown, one half of the legendary UK garage unit Tuff Jam, as well as a 4×4 remix by Q and a shredding bassline mix by regular collaborator TS7. Audio of those will be uploaded closer to the release date.

Andy Jay & S-Tee – Crunk EP (Certified Records)

Andy Jay & S-Tee – Crunk EP (Certified Records)

Every so often we can sometimes go through a drought of releases so its always nice when an EP pops especially when its the same guys who brought you the Tutti Frutti EP alongside Big Rob. This time its the “Crunk EP” and this features the original Funky instrumental aswell as a VIP from the two producers!

During Funkys rise to the top in 2008 it did start to grow on me but quality control became a problem as with other genres who find themselves the next big thing. Now that its just the producers making the music they enjoy making I’ve found myself listening to it alot more and finding it can be quite a diverse genre when comparing the likes of Andy Jay & S-Tee against producers such as Notion who also producers funky alongside other genres.

For the remixes on the EP they got their good friend DJ Q to give it that energetic Bassline twist aswell as Notion who I’ve mentioned earlier and will hopefully start feature on the blog more regularly as im enjoying pretty much every track he puts up on his Soundcloud at the moment whether it be Funky or Grime so be sure to check it out here!

The EP’s out on the 15th of October aswell as Majestic’s “Lets Go Back” so plenty happening on that day & you can pre order this EP of I Tunes now!
